Jay’s first formal experiences of bushcraft and camp craft were through Scouting and he continues teaching these skills in Scouting today.  He has developed and practiced his outdoor and bushcraft skills in various locations throughout the UK from remote Scottish Lochs to the more tame lowland woodlands of the South.  Over the last few years he has learnt to apply this knowledge and skill in the context of open canoeing expeditions.

Jay's formal qualifications include: Level 4 NFCE accredited Certificate in Bushcraft Leadership, Level 3 NCFE accredited Advanced Bushcraft Award, Level 2 Food Hygeine Certificate, British Red Cross Basic First Aid Certificate, BCU Level 2 Open Canoe Coach, BCU 3 Star Open Canoe (solo), BCU Water Safety Test, BCU Lifeguards First Aid Certificate & Scout Association Wood Beads.  Jay's other outdoor interests include hill walking & natural history.
