An Introduction To Bushcraft
Whether you have little or no experience of outdoor living this is an excellent opportunity for adults to discover bushcraft. The base camp for the course is located in private woodland nestled in the South Downs and over the weekend you will explore & learn about:
- Fire – Build, light and cook with open campfires
- Seasonal Wild Food – Discover edible plants and other wild foods
- Outdoor Water – Make the water you find safe to drink and put the kettle on for some natural tea
- Woodland animal & bird sign – Begin to read the clues they leave behind
- Wood lore – Identify some native UK trees and look at their common uses
- Shelter – Erect your own hammock & tarp (sleep in it if you would like!)
- Woodcraft & tools - Safely use a knife and saw to carve, chop & split wood
- Cool craft – Discover some of natures secrets and make natural string from stingers or soap from tree leaves
By Sunday afternoon you will be able to impress those you know with your new wisdom & skills. Would a hand carved spoon be a fabulous pressie for a loved one… would it captivate your friends at your next social gathering if you could light the barbeque without matches… or would the kids think you are cool if you made biodegradable shoe laces with them!
