Kiln Auction

As you may have read, the kiln at the ceramic studio I attend has broken and needs to be replaced. Jeni, from Lemon Studio, has started a GoFundMe page to help cover some of the costs. (The kiln was insured, but the company is disputing the claim and while this will be appealed, without a working kiln the studio risks their business going under and so it needs to be replaced as soon as possible.) Jeni is a fantastic teacher and her studio supports students, independent artists, and an enormous number of community projects. My time at the studio is honestly the best part of my week, so I wanted to do something a little extra to help out!

I am auctioning off five handmade ceramic pendants – the original spell scrolls. Each of these pendants started as a thin sheet of clay, on which a happy spell, warm wish, or contented sentiment was written, before being rolled up, pinched, and pierced. (Yes, these were inspired by Roman Curse tablets!) Each pendant was glazed a nice, bright, cheery colour and then threaded onto a waxed brown cord with variable knots (ones that let you easily change the length). These items would normally be listed at £7 each, but please feel free to start the bidding lower as there is no reserve.

I am also delighted to be auctioning this handmade badger sculpture, with half of the amount going to the new kiln at Lemon studio and half of the amount going to the Badger Sett, a crafty activism group raising money for the Badger Trust’s badger vaccination project, started by the brilliant Sam Goodlet. This item has a £25 reserve.
